Strata recognizes that community members play an essential role in the vitality and growth of the region.
By actively engaging with local organizations, schools, and businesses, Strata Credit Union strives to foster a sense of unity and support among its members. Through various community outreach programs and financial education workshops, we guide individuals to make informed decisions and achieve their financial goals.
At Strata, our mission is to uplift and empower the communities of Kern County. We are dedicated to supporting local organizations and nonprofits that are committed to making a meaningful impact. By fostering collaboration and providing resources, we aim to strengthen the efforts of those who are working tirelessly to improve the lives of our neighbors.
Together, we can build a more vibrant, supportive, and resilient community for all.
We are committed to fostering financial inclusion, education, and prosperity for our community.
We envision a future where every member of our community is financially empowered, secure, and prosperous.
Strata Credit Union (formerly Kern Federal Credit Union) received its prestigious Juntos Avanzamos designation in 2016 for its outreach and efforts within the Hispanic Community.
Strata Credit Union (formerly Kern Federal Credit Union) received its prestigious Juntos Avanzamos designation in 2016 for its outreach and efforts within the Hispanic Community.
Juntos Avanzamos is a designation to credit unions committed to serving and empowering Latinos and immigrant communities by providing affordable financial services, bilingual support, and culturally relevant financial solutions.
These credit unions focus on trust and long-term relationships within the communities they serve, providing flexible credit underwriting, financial education and necessary resources (such as ITIN lending) to help members build wealth and achieve their financial goals without regard for immigration status.
By embracing the Juntos Avanzamos mission, Strata Credit Union plays a crucial role in promoting economic empowerment and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, income, education, and nationality, has the opportunity to fully participate in the U.S. financial system, build assets and contribute to the local economies.

In partnership with the Prosperity Neighborhood Initiative, Strata Credit Union has been providing financial literacy workshops to our underserved and underprivileged community. The Prosperity Neighborhood Initiative (PNI) works to address ongoing challenges in the NiMo and MLK neighborhoods. We are focusing on expanding economic opportunity through financial education and improved access to financial services.
Strata Credit Union presented a $25,000 donation to the CAPK Foundation in support of food distribution efforts for Kern County residents impacted by the government shutdown in late October of 2025 and SNAP benefit delay. Building financial health starts with meeting basic needs, and we’re proud to help where it matters most.
Member Appreciation Days celebrate the unity between Strata Credit Union and the community we proudly serve. We host Member Appreciation Days at each of our four branches each year.
